Allergic Reactions Triggers
Very few, yet severe allergic reactions have occurred shortly after the injection of the new Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine. These reactions happened in people with known history of severe allergies (and they fully recovered after treatment), making them unlikely for most of us.
A vaccine expert (and professor at University of Pennsylvania), who recommended that Food and Drug Administration authorize the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use, said that one if its components, polyethylene glycol, would be a “leading contender” for triggering the allergic reaction.
Therefore, POLYETHYLENE GLYCOLS—PEGs are indeed affecting our health! If any of you read or even looked through my book, Keep Away from GRAS, you saw I was talking a great deal about them. Considered GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) substances, PEGs are regarded as “inert” and “inactive.” WELL, THEY ARE NOT! And I’ve been claiming this for years.
It’s the first time I see that polyethylene glycols (PEGs) are pointed out as triggers for a side-effect, the allergic reactions. Until now the medical warning for any vaccine was to not take it if allergic to any of its components, without being more specific.
It still doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t take the vaccine or that the vaccine is not effective or safe against the scary Covid-19. I think it’s an amazing progress to fight this raging pandemic. The mRNA component of this unique vaccine is protected in bubbles that are coated with other stabilizing molecules, one of them containing polyethylene glycol.
PEGs are incorporated in so many cosmetics, foods, and medications. Our exposure through all these products it’s what sensitizes us to these components. Thereafter, people prone to allergies can develop reactions and some can be severe. Sometimes the doctors can’t even pinpoint the exact component. They just have to advise carrying the EpiPen at all times.
The important consequence of including these so-called “inert” or “inactive” components in just about everything is what makes it impossible for some of us to get the proper treatments because of subsequent allergic reactions to much needed, sometimes life-saving medications.
Allergic reactions may be just the tip of the iceberg, PEGs and related components may actually be accountable for much more. But because PEGs are deemed “inert” or “inactive” they’re usually not taken into account or blamed. I approached researchers to look into this. They coldly dismissed me.
Surprisingly, even now others scientists’ statements I read only reassure the public. We’ve all been exposed to PEGs since our birth and if there is no history of allergic reactions, we should be fine with this vaccine as well. Nobody is proposing the idea to not use them or many other related chemicals in our everyday products.
Using PEGs where they really are necessary and not just about everywhere is what I think would be wise. Until the manufacturers will do that, I decided to not use any products contain them. The most difficult task is related to prescription medications. For many others, there are numerous better replacements.
The very existence of the many available replacements it’s a good indication that we can do without these many chemicals, they are not really absolutely necessary to be included in what we use.
